Welcome to Challenge I!!

Hey everybody! Here I am, about to enter Challenge I, the freshman year of CC's High School program. I didn't keep up with this blog very much in Challenge B, and I'm sorry about that, but hopefully I'll post a lot more this year. There's not much I can say about Challenge I right now, except for what I've been told. One thing I do know: It's a lot of reading and a lot of Latin. Don't procrastinate or you'll be behind before you can say so. Make a schedule and stick to it. I'll try to make a planner once I've gotten some idea of what's actually going on. Once that happens, I'll post a bunch of super-helpful stuff! Until then, goodbye!

Challenge B Homework Planner

If you procrastinate, please raise your hand. If you aren't raising your hand, you are a pretty rare person. Kudos to you. Skip this post and do your homework. If, like me, you are an ultimate procrastinator who never seems to have anything on schedule, welcome to this post!    Recently (as in maybe 5 minutes ago) I decided that I should start planning out my work in order to get more done. The thing is, I have a planner for what time to start things, but where in that dinky little space am I gonna write what I'm going to do for each subject? Hmmmm...   With that little dilemma in mind (Hey! Let's create a Truth Table for that!) I logged on to Google Docs (A.K.A. Life saver) and created this handy little chart.  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nUaCK0XmQI3UEJaHWhe-3H1ATpleaHBBSyn6kXxn5Ew/edit?usp=sharing   Note that I do not speak of "Handy" from experience. I haven't tried it yet. If you use it, let me know how it works in the comments! Let...

The Highlighting System

One of my favourite subjects in Challenge B is the Science. During the second semester, students read "Defeating Darwinism by Opening Minds," by Phillip E. Johnson. I highly recommend it.   Anyway, as well as reading this book, the kids have to outline each chapter. One of the ways that I prepare for outlining is using "THE HIGHLIGHTING SYSTEM" *enter dramatic music here*   I did not come up with the highlighting system, some other amazing human did, but I find it very helpful. It also helps me take note of my favourite things about the book. https://members.classicalconversations.com/article/how-be-good-reader-highlighting   The above link should take you right to the site that saved part of my life. Enjoy, and good luck with your highlighting!   P.S. If you can highlight, but can't outline, I will be creating an article on how to outline. Once I figure out how I'm going to go about doing that anyway. Bye!

The 5 Common Topics

I don't know about you, but I know about me. I have trouble with the 5 common topics. I NEVER. KNOW. THE. QUESTIONS. TO. ASK. I can think of them any time I'm not doing my work, but when I need them... Gone. I decided to compile a list of the Challenge B subjects and write down the questions for each one. That way, you can pull them out whenever you need to! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pgYWeGvC6zSS0pOvwsM8pdz34nrzHdBnuMaTxs536R0/edit?usp=sharing Please do not claim this as your own. It is okay to show it to other people, as long as I get due credit.

Challenge A Fallacies

Hey everyone! I may have mentioned in my Introduction that I would post things for other CC levels as well as my own. This one is for the level before mine, Challenge A. In Challenge A, my favourite part was when we studied fallacies. This link will take you to a poster that has a list of all the fallacies. Or most of them. I'm not sure. https://fivejs.com/free-printable-logical-fallacy-poster/ I finally found out how to make it a link, so hopefully you can click on it instead of copying and pasting it into the browser. Yay!

Writing Mistakes that You are Probably Committing.

In Challenge, you write a lot. Not just papers, but stories as well. When you write, you want all your grammar to be correct.   The link below will take you to an article that has different words that sound or look similar, and which instances to use them in. Hope it helps! https://www.grammarcheck.net/writing-mistakes-native-speakers/?pp=0&epik=v%3D1%26u%3DX-jM7rwVpzOTYlNcHkV9bDw-eZdeOnlZ%26n%3DPZGMIgYNPiUAscsqzHPutw%3D%3D>
